Your Child’s First Week: A Parent’s Guide
The first week of your child’s personalised hypnosis sessions is crucial for establishing a routine and helping them feel comfortable with the process. Here’s how to support them through this important time.
Night One - Part One
Before Starting:
- Explain that they’re going to listen to a special story that will help them
- Reassure them that it’s perfectly safe and many children enjoy these sessions
- Let them know they just need to listen and relax
During the Session:
- Stay nearby initially if your child feels more comfortable
- Don’t worry if they fall asleep - their subconscious mind continues listening
- Avoid checking on them during the session to prevent interruption
After the Session:
- If they’re still awake, give them quiet praise for listening so well
- Answer any questions they might have briefly and positively
- Allow them to drift off to sleep naturally
Night Two - Part Two
Building on Success:
- Remind them they did wonderfully the night before
- Explain they’re going to hear the next part of their special session
- Follow the same routine as night one
What to Expect:
- Your child may show more familiarity with the process
- They might ask questions about what they heard - this is normal and positive
- Some children begin to look forward to their “special time”
Nights Three Through Seven
Establishing the Routine:
- Your child can now listen to either part in any order
- Let them choose which part they’d like to hear (if they have a preference)
- Continue with the same environmental setup and timing
Signs of Progress:
- Look for subtle changes in behaviour or mood
- Don’t ask directly about changes - let them occur naturally
- Some children may share their experiences; others may not
Common First Week Experiences
Normal Responses:
- Falling asleep during sessions (this is perfectly fine)
- Asking questions about what they heard
- Wanting to listen more than once per night (limit to once for effectiveness)
- Not remembering much about the session (completely normal)
When to Be Patient:
- Some children take longer to settle into the routine
- Changes may not be immediately visible
- Every child responds at their own pace
Supporting Your Child’s Success
- Consistency is Key: Try to maintain the same time each night
- Stay Positive: Your attitude influences their receptivity
- Don’t Test: Avoid asking what they remember or experienced
- Trust the Process: Clinical hypnotherapy works, even when changes seem subtle
Remember, you’re providing your child with a valuable tool for wellbeing that can benefit them throughout their life.
